South and Midwest Sweep Commercial Services Deals

J.F. Lehman & Company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the National Response Corporation and its affiliated businesses NRC Environmental Services and SEACOR Response (collectively known as NRC) from SEACOR Holdings (NYSE: CKH). NRC is a provider of regulatory compliance under the U.S. Oil Pollution Act of 1990 and oil spill emergency response services. J.F. Lehman focuses on investing in the maritime, defense and aerospace sectors.
Since the beginning of 2011, private equity investors have closed 319 deals in the Commercial Services industry. Although there was a slight drop in deal count between 2010 (319 completed deals) and 2011 (301 deals), the region leaders, the South and the Midwest, actually saw increases in their deal count from 2010 to 2011. The Midwest led 2010's activity with 63 deals, followed closely behind by the South with 60 deals. Then the two regions swapped top spots in 2011, when the South took the lead with 74 deals, followed by the Midwest with 71.
