The Shanghai Stock Exchange has agreed to acquire a 25.1% stake in Kazakhstan's nascent stock exchange, per Reuters. The deal comes after it was announced on May 29 that NASDAQ has been selected to power the exchange, which is targeted to launch later this year and will initially trade equities and fixed income with other asset classes. The SSE's move represents an investment in the central Asian nation as part of China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative to forge greater economic tie across the continent, again per Reuters.
