IBM has agreed to acquire StoredIQ, a VC-backed big data management provider based in Austin, TX. StoredIQ's software provides a scalable, distributed platform to better govern and manage high volumes of data (or "mountains of murky data," as they put it). Eyeing their exits are Techxas Ventures, PerformanceEdge Partners, EMC and S3 Ventures. The company has received a steady stream of VC funding dating back to 2002. PerformanceEdge and S3 led the last round, a Series D, for $11.5 million in August of this year. IBM will incorporate the company into its Software Group and its Information Lifecycle Governance business.
