Tailwind Capital has wasted no time on the fundraising trail. The mid-market buyout firm has brought in about $1.05 billion for its third flagship fund, according to an SEC filing, a little more than two years after closing its second vehicle on the same figure.
Targeting companies in the business & industrial services and healthcare sectors, Tailwind typically makes controlling investments between $25 million and $100 million. Tailwind's $775 million debut fund has posted a 6.4% IRR as of 4Q 2016, placing it in the lower half of its benchmark, per the PitchBook Platform. Tailwind's second vehicle has fared much better, ranking near the top quartile of its benchmark with an 18.06% IRR as of the end of 2016.
