Telecoms partner on $200M acquisition of Nextel Brazil

Multinational telecoms NII and AINMT have agreed to jointly own and operate Brazilian mobile telecommunications company Nextel Brazil, striking a $200 million deal comprising an initial investment of $50 million from AINMT for a 30% stake in the NII-backed company. Operating under the Nextel brand, NII offers wireless voice, data and internet services in Brazil. AINMT is the operator of a Norwegian mobile phone network. NII (NASDAQ: NIHD) shares closed down 5% Wednesday.
