Dubai Aerospace Enterprise has agreed to acquire aircraft lessor AWAS from Terra Firma and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. The deal will create a company worth more than $14 billion with a fleet of nearly 400 aircraft. Terra Firma and CPPIB acquired full control of AWAS 11 years ago, with Terra Firma maintaining a 75% stake. Two years ago, AWAS disposed of a portfolio of 90 aircrafts to Macquarie (ASX: MQG) for $4 billion.
