Thanksgiving Travel Much Cooler (Thanks to VC Investments)
November 12, 2012
With holiday travel just around the corner, finding ways to stay entertained during a long plane ride seems more important than ever. With this and Row 44’s recent acquisition by Global Eagle on our minds, we took to the PitchBook Platform to take a look at other US-based companies that provide in-flight entertainment or in-flight wireless services. Over the years, more than $525 million in venture capital has been invested in the space, including a couple of massive rounds for GoGo, a provider of in-flight wireless internet services. Also on the list: AirCloud, a provider of mobile media and in-flight entertainment; Lumexis, a developer of “fiber-to-the-screen” IF entertainment and communication services; PopCap Games, a developer of casual and puzzle video games; and Videon Central, a provider of digital video products available for air-bound passengers.
