Thus far in June, there have been 520 VC deals completed globally in a wide range of industries. Companies headlining the month's fundings include Spotify ($526M), Credit Karma ($175M) and Blue Apron ($135M), but a number of lesser-known startups with some impressive technology have landed deals of their own. Here is a list of some of the coolest tech getting VC funding this month:
Sphero - Maker of an internet-connected, app-enabled toy ball that can be driven and controlled through a mobile device and integrated into mobile games and other apps. It also teaches kids the basics of programming. The company raised a $45 million financing led by Mercato Partners at the beginning of the month; its new valuation: $145 million.
Fetch Robotics - The company develops robots that streamline warehouse and fulfillment center operations by either following a worker to carry products, or by finding and pulling SKUs automatically. Fetch's $20 million financing from mid-June generated a valuation of $70 million; investors include O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures and SoftBank Capital.
Hello - The company's hardware combines the insight of a user's sleep patterns with the data of the environment in their bedroom—including noise, light, temperature, humidity and particles in the air—aiming to help users sleep better. Hello recently received $21 million in funding that values it at $276 million.
