In recent years, VC funding for marketing software has seen quite a jump, both in terms of deal count and capital invested. According to the PitchBook Platform, 146 U.S.-based companies have received financing from venture investors since the beginning of 2009. The sudden uptick came in 2011, when deal count soared from 57 transactions in 2010 to 76 in 2011. In that same time frame, capital invested shot up from $351 million to $639 million. 2012 saw a slight dip as deal count bumped down to 65 transactions and capital invested dropped to $593 million. This year is on track to be another solid year, however, with $104 million already invested across 10 deals.
