Thoma Bravo Merging Crossbeam with Blue Coat Systems
December 19, 2012
Blue Coat Systems, a web security and optimization solution provider, has agreed to acquire complementary network security provider Crossbeam Systems. Both are portfolio companies of PE firm Thoma Bravo. Crossbeam's X-Series portfolio provides a scalable platform that allows businesses to consolidate their security and networking infrastructures. Combined with Blue Coat's technologies, the merger will create a control point in the network for managing applications that secure both inbound and outbound traffic from all users in any location. Thoma Bravo acquired Blue Coat (alongside minority investor Teachers' Private Capital) in a public-to-private buyout in February 2012 before buying Crossbeam from a slew of VC backers in early November. The merger is expected to close on December 31, 2012.
