Top Investor Tuesday — Information Services
December 18, 2012- Share:
According to the PitchBook Platform, 270 VC investors have funneled $1.48 billion into U.S. companies specializing in Information Services in the last four years. 2011 was a high point for the industry, raking in $647.1 million, which comes as a marked increase from 2010’s $256.9 million. Investments dropped again in 2012 with $345.6 million to date. The fluctuation is partly due to two mammoth deals in 2011: $200 million went to TrueCar, a company based in Santa Monica, CA that provides data, information and price reports for vehicles, and $117.05 million to Airbnb, which provides information on lodging accommodations for travelers.
