Top Investor Tuesday — Most Active VCs in Series A Rounds

VC investors will be hard-pressed to close enough Series A deals in the final month of 2015 to catch last year’s total of 1,613, but capital invested globally at the stage—$11.67 billion—has already topped 2014, which had brought in a decade-high $10.51 billion. So far in 2015, 1,273 VC investors have invested in at least one Series A round, with the median deal size at $6 million. Software has garnered the bulk of deal flow, accounting for 41% of activity, followed by commercial services (11%), biotech (8%) and media (5%). 135 of the investors manage over $1 billion of assets, and 338 have completed at least two deals during the past six months.
