TransMedics Receives $36M for Organ Preservation Technology

TransMedics, a developer of organ transplant technologies, has raised a $36 million round of financing to “complete [its] heart and lung FDA pivotal trials and expand [its] global commercial activities,” according to a press release. The company focuses its technology on organ preservation and is responsible for the patented Organ Care System, a portable device used to keep organs in functioning condition prior to transplantation. The round was led by Abrams Capital with participation from return investors Flagship Ventures, Hercules Technology Growth Capital and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
