Genesis Energy has agreed to acquire the alkali chemicals business of Tronox for $1.325 billion in cash. The unit manufactures sodium carbonate used in a number of products, including glass and detergents. Tronox plans to use the proceeds to support its acquisition of Cristal TiO2, which was announced in February. KKR and GSO Capital Partners have committed to purchase approximately $750 million in Genesis stock in conjunction with the deal.
