Though the company DeveloperAuction has put a new spin on the talent recruiting service by creating an auction-based marketplace, its recent $2.7 million deal reflects a clear trend. According to the PitchBook Platform, 46 Human Capital Services companies headquartered in the U.S. have received funding from VC investors since the beginning of 2009. The interesting fact is how quickly the amount of total capital invested in the industry per year has been rising recently. After $20.6 million was invested in the space in 2009 and over $36 million was invested in both 2010 and 2011, capital invested in 2012 shot up to $59.7 million with HireVue’s $22 million financing being the largest deal. So far in 2013, the Human Capital Services industry has already seen $36.4 million invested across five deals, indicating another year of significant growth for investment in the sector.
