The Competition and Markets Authority has accepted a proposal from Heineken to sell a number of pubs in order to assuage the government body's fears regarding the Dutch company's proposed takeover of around 1,900 Punch Taverns bars. Heineken offered to sell outlets in 33 areas that the CMA said could see reduced competition due to the deal. Heineken agreed to acquire Punch's portfolio in December.
