Which purchase will have the biggest impact: Flipkart or Whole Foods?
May 16, 2018
Earlier this week, we asked readers which mega-deal will ultimately have the biggest impact: Walmart's recent $16 billion acquisition of Flipkart or Amazon's $13.7 billion purchase of Whole Foods last year.
Here's what we've heard. Responses have been lightly edited for length and clarity:

"The Amazon purchase of Whole Foods will be far more relevant; in fact, the other may turn out to be irrelevant. Notwithstanding a stumble here and there, Amazon is currently relevant and Walmart is struggling to overcome its history and culture. It will be far easier for Amazon to replicate a Flipkart model from its Whole Foods base than it will be for Walmart to create a Whole Foods culture from any of its recent, high-profile acquisitions."
"For sure the winner will be Amazon to cross-sell to Whole Foods. Bezos apparently has a well-oiled machine in place to integrate businesses when it comes to online."
