He also advised Google Capital on larger strategic investments. Prior to Google, he was a Technology Evangelist at Microsoft for 5 years (2004 - 2009) working with startup developers, founders, and investors. He was also Head of Venture Capital Relations at Microsoft. He briefed VC firms on where Microsoft product plans were going, and areas of strategic cooperation with their portfolio companies. He managed the acquisition of several companies for Microsoft. Prior to Microsoft, he was a VP at several prominent technology companies including; Groove Networks (acquired by Microsoft), Bowstreet Software (acquired by IBM), Napster (acquired by Best Buy), and AltaVista (acquired by Yahoo). He started his technology career at Digital Equipment Corp as a Product Manager in Database Systems, and later as an Engineering Manager. He has been a private investor in over 50 technology companies and served on the Board of Directors of many companies including two Billion dollar Unicorns; Lucid and Aras. He holds a BBA from the University of Southern Maine.
