From 1987 to 1993, he was Vice President, Programming, and Co-General Manager of NBA Entertainment, where he was responsible for league-wide brand management and programming. He has also been an active investor for many years. He was a founding partner of Velocity Interactive Group, an investment firm focusing on digital media and the consumer Internet space. He is a co-founder of Fuel Media Commerce, which focuses on early-stage investments. He is on the Board of Trip Advisor (Audit), Shutterstock (Nominating and Governance), Open X (Chair), and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. In addition, he serves as a non-profit Director/Trustee for the American Film Institute, BBC Global News, International Emmy Association, Independent Film Project, and Paley Center for Media. He has been awarded the Inaugural Pioneer Prize, by the Producers Guild of America, 2005 the Inaugural Vanguard Award, by the International Emmy Association, 2006 the Digital Power Player of the Year, by Hollywood Reporter, 2009 and the Monaco Media Festival, Interactive Pioneer Award, 2010. He serves as a Board of Directors & Member of the Audit and Corporate Governance Committee at j2 Global. He served as a Board Member at Thirty Labs. He holds a B.A. with honors from Harvard College.
