David Whorton General Information
Description
Mr. David Whorton is the Founder and serves as Chief Executive Officer at Tugboat Group. Mr. Whorton also served as Board Member at Education Elements. He Founded & served as Partner & Managing Director at TPG. After earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business, he found his way to Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Texas Pacific Group Ventures, where he developed and incubated numerous investments. Throughout, he was mentored by some of the best in the business, including Brook Byers, John Doerr, Bruce Dunlevie, Wally Hawley, Vinod Khosla, and Dave Strohm. Mr. Whorton has served as founding CEO of Good Technology (acquired by Motorola); co-founder of Drugstore.com (DSCM); co-founding board member of Newschools Venture Fund and general manager and president of Optical Engineering. He also worked at Netscape, Hewlett Packard, and Bain. He served as a Board Member at RichRelevance. Mr. Whorton currently serves on the board of directors of Cuil, RepairPal, and SuccessFactors (SFSF).
