Mr. Karim Kawar serves as Chairman at Kawar Energy. He serves as a Board Member at Oasis500. He is the President of Kawar Group, entrepreneur, former diplomat, and angel investor. He is also the Co-Founder and serves as President of Bridges of Understanding. He is also Chairman of Kawar Energy and is a Co-Founder and Chairman of IrisGuard, and has served as Jordan's Ambassador to the US 2002-2007. He led the EDAMA Initiative: Jordan's blueprint for a green economy. He was appointed by Royal Decree to the Board of Trustees of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, appointed on 21 September 2010 as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King's Academy, and previously appointed to the Economic Consultative Council by His Majesty King Abdullah II. Founder of ten companies in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), Mr Kawar is an architect of the REACH Initiative, Jordan's blueprint for a knowledge economy, Founder and Chairman of the Information Technology Association of Jordan, Former President of the Jordan Computer Society, and a founding member of several business associations and NGOs, including AmCham and the Jordan Intellectual Property Association. Mr. Kawar is also a Member of the Advisory Board of Talal Abu Ghazaleh College for Business and a Member of the Boards of Trustees of Madaba University. He is a principal shareholder and advisor to Optimiza. He serves as a member of the board of two additional Jordanian public shareholding companies, namely the Jordan Ahli Bank and the Jordan Wood Industries Company (JWICO). Mr Kawar is Member of the Global Agenda Council; Young Global Leader; Global Leader for Tomorrow of the World Economic Forum; Eisenhower Fellow; Member of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO); Founder and Board Member of the Jordan River Foundation, headed by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah; and Founder and President of Bridges of Understanding Foundation. Mr. Kawar graduated from Boston College in 1987 with a BSc in Management, Finance, and Computer Science.
