Alan has wide international experience especially in Asia. He has worked in general management, strategy and business development roles across a number of sectors including energy, textiles, retailing, banking and government. Alan chairs Griffin Growth Partners, a specialist strategic advisory firm focused on growing markets in Asia. He is also co-founder of Kiran Energy, one of India's leading solar power developers. Until 2009 Alan was an Executive Director of Tata Sons Limited. Prior to that he was Chairman of the Jardine Matheson Group in India, Strategy Development Director at United Distillers and a member of The Policy Unit at No. 10 Downing Street. He was CEO of Piersons, a division of Courtaulds Textiles, and an investment banker with S.G. Warburg & Co. Alan has an MA in History from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
