Mr. Gregory Back is a Co-Founding Partner and serves as Managing Member, Managing Partner at CatchLight Capital Partners. Mr. Back serves as Managing Member at Free Sky Capital. Mr. Back is an angel investor. He served as Managing Director at 280 Capital Partners. He also serves as Advisor at Clarendon Group. He served as Board of Director and Investment Committee Member at CrowdSmart. He is an experienced venture capital and private equity investor with expertise in technology and technology-enabled businesses and investment experience across the lifecycle of the enterprise, from early-stage through a buyout. Prior to forming 280 Capital, Back served as a Managing Director at Warburg Pincus LLC and a General Partner of a number of its funds. At Warburg, he led the application software practice and was also an active investor in data-intensive and Internet-based business models and technology-enabled services. During his tenure at Warburg, he led or co-led investments totaling nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars of equity capital, with the majority between $20 million and $100 million in equity, and served on the boards of ten companies. His transaction experience includes buyouts, expansion & growth, traditional minority venture, control venture, equity recapitalization, corporate spinouts, public to the private, bank, bond, and second lien leverage, initial public offering, strategic sale and numerous portfolio company acquisitions. Previously, Mr. Back was Executive Vice President, Corporate Planning & Business Development, at InfoUSA, a publicly-traded marketing information services company. Prior to that, he was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. Mr. Back graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Economics from Yale University and holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
