Description
Mr. Paul Schaeffer serves as Vice Chairman at Mandalay Sports Media. He served as a Director at Digital Turbine. He is also a Co-Owner of Los Angeles Football Club. Along with Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Guber, Mr. Schaeffer is responsible for all aspects of the motion picture and television business, focusing primarily on the corporate and business operations of those entities. Mr. Schaeffer was co-founder of the Mandalay Entertainment Group with Peter Guber in 1995. Prior to forming Mandalay, Mr. Schaeffer was the Executive Vice President of Sony Pictures Entertainment, overseeing the worldwide corporate operations for SPE including Worldwide Administration, Financial Affairs, Human Resources, Corporate Affairs, Legal Affairs and Corporate Communications. During his tenure, Mr. Schaeffer also had supervisory responsibility for the rebuilding and renovation of Sony Pictures Studios. Under his direction, the lot was transformed into a state-of-the-art motion picture and television production and post-production facility. A veteran of 20 years of private law practice, with 15 years in entertainment law, Mr. Schaeffer joined SPE from Armstrong, Hirsch and Levine, where he was a senior partner working on corporate entertainment matters for a number of motion picture, television and music clients. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and received his accounting degree from Pennsylvania State University. He was also an accountant with Arthur Young & Company in Philadelphia before law school. Mr. Schaeffer is Vice Chairman and a member of the Executive Board and an owner of Mandalay Baseball, which owns and operates professional baseball franchises. He is also Vice-Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of Mandalay Digital Group, a public company, which is at the convergence of internet media content and mobile communications. Paul is also Vice-Chairman of Mandalay Sports Media, a content and production enterprise founded by Mandalay and renowned sports producer, Mike Tollin and CAA. A long-time believer in community involvement, Mr. Schaeffer is on the Board of Trustees of Children's Hospital Los Angeles, a member of its Safety, Quality and Service Committee as well as the Saban Research Committee, and is on the Advisors Council of it's Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases; and is a member of the Cedars- Sinai Medical Center Board of Governors. He has also served several terms as the Chairman and President of the Neil Bogart Memorial Fund. The Fund is a division of the T.J. Martell Foundation, one of the music industry's leading charities which has raised nearly $200 million since its inception. The organization, which he helped establish in 1983, provides funding for research in the areas of childhood cancer, AIDS and leukemia, and has its primary research facility at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Urban League, Bet Tzedek, University of Judaism and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
