Mr. Timothy Barton is the Founder of Edison Factory. He is also an Angel Investor. He is also the Founder of Strang Chef Collectives. He is a Co-Founder of Edison Spaces. He serves as Board Observer & Advisor at Draiver. He founded Freightquote in 1998, leveraging technology to create a better way for carriers and shippers to work together. As Chairman and CEO, Tim grew Freightquote to be the largest online freight brokerage, handling over one million shipments each year. Freightquote was acquired by a Fortune 200 company in 2015. Tim's innovation and leadership have been acknowledged by Ernst and Young who awarded him Entrepreneur of the Year and also by Entrepreneur Magazine with a top-five spot on their Hot 100 list. His vision and success are evident in the recognition Freightquote received over the years, including Forbes Magazine's Best of the Web and Kansas City Business Journal's Top 150 Private Companies. Prior to Freightquote, Tim was a Co-Founder and President of UWI Association Programs. UWI grew organically and through acquisitions into publicly-traded Network Long Distance before selling to IXC Communications/Broadwing in 1998. Tim holds an MA in Finance from Louisiana State University and a BA in Business from the University of Kansas. He is a recipient of the KU School of Business Distinguished Alumni Award and is a member of their Board of Advisors. Today Tim mentors and advises startups and established companies looking to transform their businesses through technology. He is the founder of Edison Factory, an investment and consulting firm based in Austin and Kansas City. He is a serial entrepreneur.
