Philip Geier General Information
Mr. Philip Geier is an angel investor. He serves as the Chairman of the Geier Group LLC. Following his retirement from the Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. (NYSE: IPG), Geier formed The Geier Group LLC in 2001 to provide consulting/advisory services in marketing, communications and venture capital. Geier's distinguished advertising career started when he joined McCann-Erickson in 1958. Rising through the ranks quickly, he was named Vice Chairman of the parent company, Interpublic, in 1975, then President and COO two years later. Finally in 1980, at the young age of 45, Geier was named Chairman and CEO. Geier served as Chairman of the Advertising Council and was an active member of the Business Council. He created economic stimulus proposals for three administrations and served on a number of government task forces. Over the years, he has worked with various political committees, as well as Congress, on miscellaneous domestic social and economic issues. He serves as trustee for the boards of Autism Speaks, Columbia University Business School, International Tennis Hall of Fame, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Save the Children Federation, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Additionally, currently he is an adviser to Lazard Freres & Company, LLC, as well as AEA Investors Inc. and serves on the board of directors of Cross Media Works and Ourstage, Inc. He retired from the Board of Directors of Agknowledge Holdings, Alcon Laboratories, Inc., Fiduciary Trust International, Foot Locker Inc. and Mettler-Toledo International, Inc.
