Mr. Zachary Herlick is a Co-Founder and serves as a Co-Managing Partner and Member of the Leadership Team at Portola Partners. Mr. Herlick served as a Board Member at Weave Innovations. He has worked with the senior leadership of Portola Partners since 2007. Prior to co-founding Portola Partners in 2020, he worked for 13 years with the same team at Brownson, Rehmus & Foxworth, a national wealth management firm founded in 1969. At BRF, he co-led the West Coast office and served on the Investment Strategy (Co-Chair), Public Markets, and Real Estate Committees. He contributed substantially to BRF research on macroeconomics, asset allocation, and investment manager selection. Previously, he was a Director and Client Advisor at UBS Wealth Management Australia where he was part of a carefully selected team that worked exclusively with UBS's largest Australian private clients. Mr. Herlick was also a General Partner of Maveron, a Seattle-based venture capital firm that he helped start with Howard Schultz, the Chairman and former CEO of Starbucks Coffee Company. He also served as an Associate with Mayfield Fund, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm with over $2 billion under management. Prior to his venture capital career, he co-founded Red Herring Communications, publisher of The Red Herring Magazine and Redherring.com. The Red Herring served as the leading monthly magazine focused on venture capital and the business of technology with over 350,000 subscribers at its peak. he has received an MBA, JD, and BA from Stanford University. Although not currently licensed, He had been admitted previously as a member of the California Bar. For the Nueva School, he chairs the Endowment Committee and serves as a Trustee. He is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
