Description

Hannes Van Rensburg is an Angel Investor. He founded & serves as Chief Executive Officer of Fundamo. He served as Chief Commercial Officer at Clicktell. He is widely considered to be the pioneer of mobile banking. Following the acquisition of Fundamo by Visa in 2011, He was promoted to Group Manager, of Sub-Saharan Africa. His responsibilities now include Visa's strategic development and business performance in the region, as well as maintaining his leadership of Fundamo. He leads Visa's efforts to drive financial inclusion in emerging markets. Before Fundamo, He was the CIO of the Sanlam Group, a leading financial services company, and a past board member of several IT-related companies. He has BSc degrees in Physics and Chemistry as well as in Information Systems and an MSc in Reactor Physics. He is a member of the South African Council of Natural Sciences, the Computer Society of South Africa, and The South African Institute of Computer Scientists. He is also one of the founders of the Cape IT Initiative (CITI). As well as the author of a widely read blog on mobile banking, He is an active participant in mobile banking conferences globally.
