Biography

Ms. Roberta Alessi served as Chief Operating Officer & Vice President at All Children's Hospital. She provides leadership and oversight of clinical and support services, facilities (including the regional network of All Children's Outpatient Care centers), pharmacy and home health along with a broad range of transformational initiatives. During more than 20 years of progressive executive leadership in hospital operations at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Ms. Alessi provided leadership and oversight of numerous projects. She directed the hospital-wide implementation of a $25 million inpatient electronic medical record and physician computerized computer order entry system and the implementation of a $30 million Enterprise Resource Planning management system. She was instrumental in the development of a partnership with Walgreen's for an on-site retail pharmacy to support the needs of families and patients. Ms. Alessi also introduced lean processes in the organization as part of a Transformation initiative and assisted in the expansion of ambulatory sites and partnerships in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Additional roles she held at Children's National include corporate compliance officer and executive director of operations. Ms. Alessi is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives. She earned a master's degree in Health Services Administration with a concentration in planning and financial management from The George Washington University. She is also a Diplomate in Laboratory Management of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Following the events of September 11, 2001 she served on the Washington, D.C. Mayor's Bioterrorism Planning Task Force to develop an integrated response plan for the city.
