Biography

Mr. Jose Antonio Sauma serves as Partner and Managing Director at Mesoamerica. He serves as a Board Member at PROCOMER. From 1998 to 2002, he was involved in the creation and development of Mesoamerica Telecom, the private equity fund associated to Telefonica, as well as in the negotiation of the exit strategy. In recent years, He has participated in the structuring and management of investments in industries such as construction, renewable energy and transportation. Since 2003, He has lead several of the firms' key M&A projects, in industries such as beverages, banking, construction materials, insurance, agribusiness and telecommunications. Between 2008 and 2010, He moved to Bogotá, Colombia to open the Mesoamerica office for the Andean Region. In recent years, He has been focused in the structuring and management of private equity investments in sectors such as construction, transport infrastructure and renewable energy generation. In December 2012, he led the creation of Mesoamerica BPO, which together with Bain Capital acquired the Atento operations, the CRM leading contact center business in Latin America. Currently, He is a member of IMAP's Board of Directors, and chair for the Latin-American counsel, a global network of investment banks. Additionally, he is Director of Seguros Bolívar Costa Rica and various companies from Mesoamerica's Portfolio, as well as an active member of the Mesoamerica Foundation. He has an MBA from INSEAD in France and Singapore and a business degree from Ithaca College in New York, with a Summa Cum Laude distinction.
