Biography

Mr. Andrew Mellor serves as a Partner at Gateley. He carries out a wide range of freehold and leasehold real estate work acting for commercial developers, landlords, tenants, investors and large corporate organizations. He specialises in commercial development and investment work associated with complex long term developments and redevelopments. Andrew also has substantial experience in the renewable energy, automotive, education and healthcare sectors as well as the full range of freehold and leasehold real estate work. He is a member of the Investment Property Forum. Acted for an offshore developer/investor on a 95 acre site which is part let and part mothballed. The £38 million site purchase, which was bank financed at the same time, involved issues relating to public highways, services, registered common land and planning policy, including green belt policy. The site has been brought through planning and residential development is due to start shortly. Acted for X-Leisure leading a team on the property aspects of the refinancing of the leisure, retail and commercial parts of Brighton Marina to a syndicate of banks. The site comprises 100 plus commercial lettings and is subject to complex redevelopment and overage arrangements. Also, dealing with planning documentation and associated agreements between landowners on the proposed redevelopment of the Marina. Acted for a number of primary and secondary schools on conversion to academy status (leading the property aspects as part of whole legal conversion process). Acted for a national wind farm developer on option agreements and associated documents relating to potential wind farms in England and Wales (alongside colleagues acting on those in Scotland).
