Nicholas Cherryman General Information
Biography
Mr. Nicholas Cherryman served as Partner at King & Spalding. He is a partner in the London office of the King & Spalding's Disputes Group. He represents leading corporate clients and institutions in complex, high value international arbitration and large-scale multijurisdictional and offshore commercial disputes, often involving the coordination of multiple proceedings and arbitrations in multiple jurisdictions. He has extensive experience of conducting arbitrations under the rules of the leading international arbitration institutions, including the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Swiss Chambers' Court of Arbitration, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. He is an experienced advocate, having practised as a commercial chancery barrister for 12 years before joining a leading international law firm. He has appeared as advocate before all levels of the English Higher Civil Courts (i.e., the High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the House of Lords [now the Supreme Court]). He appears as an advocate in international arbitrations. Mr. Cherryman's practice has a particular focus on high-value cases emanating from Russia and the CIS countries. His cases regularly involve conflicts of laws issues, aspects of alleged fraud, fiduciary duties, asset tracing, company, insolvency, competition and commercial law. With significant expertise in the English common law relating to trusts, fiduciary duties, fraud, insolvency and asset tracing, and also freezing injunctions, Mr. Cherryman is uniquely placed to act in relation to disputes involving the recognised major offshore jurisdictions, most of which tend to apply English legal decisions and follow English court procedure, including the following: Cayman Islands, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Barbados, the Bahamas, Anguilla, Turks & Caicos Islands, Hong Kong, Cyprus, Belize, and also the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. He also has substantial experience in cases involving Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Russia and the CIS countries.
