Biography

Mr. Richard Pitt serves as Partner at Eversheds Sutherland. He is a Partner and Solicitor Advocate in our Financial Services Dispute Resolution Department. He heads the group's nonstandard recoveries litigation unit and specializes in finance litigation acting for lenders involved in the secured and unsecured loan market. Richard divides his time heading the defended team in our center of excellence in Cardiff and, growing the Edinburgh Financial Services Dispute Resolution team. His recent experience includes working for the UK's largest residential lenders dealing with high value and/or complex recovery litigation, involving a wide range of issues such as fraud, third party interests, injunctions, and Judicial Review. Richard has been involved throughout the Sale and Rent Backtest case litigation currently proceeding in the Supreme Court. Other notable experience includes tripartite Consumer Credit Act claims, third party property rights, forfeiture, and Law of Property Act Receivers. He and his team have acted for a number of lenders advising on and defending mass consumer litigation which challenges the fees and charges levied by lenders. He has worked in-house on a seconded basis for GE Capital and Royal Bank of Scotland and he regularly provides training for a number of UK Lenders and industry bodies on the litigation process, risks facing the lending industry and best practice
