Biography

Mr. Hector Robinson serves as Partner at Mourant. He was a partner in the boutique firm Patterson Phillipson & Graham in Kingston, Jamaica. He has more than 20 years' experience in complex commercial disputes, most of his work involving a cross-border element. He frequently appears as an advocate before the Cayman Islands Grand Court and Court of Appeal. Hector has been appointed by the Chief Justice of the Cayman Islands as a member of the Grand Court Rules Committee under the Grand Court Law and the Insolvency Rules Committee under the Companies Law. He is a member of the Cayman Islands Law Society, INSOL, the Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association (RISA), and the International Trademarks Association (INTA). Hector's recent highlight deals include appearing on behalf of an affiliate of one of the world's top 5 banks in the insolvency of a US$500 million fund; appearing on behalf of the receivers of the companies which owned and operated the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman Resort in a complex, multi-hundred million dollar breach of fiduciary duty claim against a former director; being part of the international legal and forensic team which obtained a US$9 billion freezing order on behalf of a major Saudi conglomerate; representing the trustees of a multi-hundred million dollar trust in a breach of trust claim; and representing the liquidators of a billion dollar fund affected by the Madoff fraud. He also appeared on behalf of Cable and Wireless and the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority in complex regulatory disputes. Hector has been accepted as an expert on Cayman Islands law by state and federal courts in the United States.
