Biography

Dr. Venkatesh Harinarayan is a Founding Partner of rocketship.vc. Dr. Harinarayan is the Co-Founder and served as President at Cambrian Ventures. He served as Advisor at FetchRev. Dr. Harinarayan serves as Co-Founding Partner at Milliways Ventures. He served as Advisor at Qubole. He is a Founder and President at Cambrian Ventures. He is also a Founding Partner of @WalmartLabs and has served as its Senior Vice President. He is also a Founding Partner of Kosmix Corporation. He is an Advisor at UReach Technologies. He serves as an Investor, Advisor, and Board Member to several technology start-ups. He serves as a Board Member at Jasper Design Automation. Prior to founding the firm in 2000, he was a General Manager at Amazon.com, working with the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jeff Bezos, he helped create Amazon.com's marketplace business. He came to Amazon.com in 1998 through the $250 million acquisition of Junglee which he co-founded in 1996. At Junglee, he ran an award-winning marketing program and was also responsible for building key strategic relationships. He has authored multiple technical papers including one which received ACM SIGMOD's best paper award in 1996, and also has three patents including one referred to as the most useful database patent to come out of IBM in 10 years. His achievements include a PR program that included campaign that won the Bulldog Award for the best media campaign of 1998 and key strategic relationships with companies like Yahoo!, Excite, and Ziff Davis. He has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Salon.com, India Today, CNET TV, on the cover of Business Week (Intl. Ed.), and SiliconIndia. He has a Ph.D. from Stanford University in Computer Science. He is also an Angel Investor.
