Biography

Mr. Walter Hirzebruch serves as Managing Director & Member of Africa Mezzanine Finance Investment Team at The Rohatyn Group. Mr. Hirzebruch served as Partner, Ethos Mezzanine Partners at Ethos Private Equity. Mr. Hirzebruch serves as Director & Chief Operating Officer at STANLIB Credit Partners. He previously served as Director at Brait Private Equity. he joined Mezzanine Partners (now called Ethos Mezzanine Partners) in 2006 as a Partner. He has extensive experience across the private equity value chain and has been involved in deal sourcing, execution, restructuring, monitoring, and disposals. Prior to joining Mezzanine Partners, he was a Director of Brait South Africa and Brait Private Equity, with senior responsibility for investments in packaging, consumer, and retail products. Prior to joining Brait in 1995, he worked for FirstCorp Capital Investors (the predecessor to Ethos Private Equity) doing management and leveraged buyout transactions and managing a portfolio of investee companies. He has served as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of numerous private equity sponsor-owned businesses, including Astrapak, Bayport, RTT, and Shoe City. He received a B.Com and CTA from the University of Cape Town and qualified as a chartered accountant whilst at KPMG.
