Biography

Mr. Dennis Bennie is the Founder of XDL Capital Group and serves as its Principal. He is the Founding Partner of Creative Destruction Lab. He is a Co-Founder and serves as the Chairman at Adira Energy. He is a Co-Founder and serves as the Chairman at Newtopia. He served as an Advisor at Quandl. He serves as Advisor at Vouchr. He serves as the Board Member at Appinions. He also serves as a board member at WestonExpressions and Mill Street Brewery. He earlier served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman at Delrina. He also co-founded the company. Bennie has had over 33 years of experience in start-ups, rapid growth, and turnaround opportunities. He has built companies from scratch to over a billion dollars in market capitalization with IPOs on both the TSX and NASDAQ. Dennis Bennie is a pioneer, entrepreneur, and innovator in the Canadian technology industry. Over the past 33 years, his entrepreneurial management has powered several successful companies. Bennie currently operates as the XDL Capital Group, investing in early-stage technology opportunities. In 1997, he founded the XDL Venture Capital Fund, focusing on information technology opportunities. XDL Intervest is a $150 million fund that started in 1999 and is now fully invested. From 1988 to 1996, Bennie was Chairman and CEO of Delrina Corporation, which forged the new software categories and was best known for producing "Winfax". Listed on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, Delrina cultivated a reputation for leadership, growth, and profitability. In November 1995, the company was sold to Symantec Corporation for share consideration valued at $560 million. Bennie qualified as a chartered accountant in 1975. He entered the world of technology in 1979 when he co-founded Mission Electronics, which is still today a dominant force in the high-end home entertainment market. In 1982 he sold his interest in Mission and founded Aviva Software, an independent, mass-market software developer. Under his direction, the company expanded its scope to include software distribution and merged with Ingram Micro Inc. in 1986 to become Canada's largest software distributor. He is a Co-founder of Delano Technology. From the University of the Witwatersrand he earned a degree in Finance and from the University of Toronto, he earned another degree. He served as Board Member at Aion.
