Biography
Mr. Joe Magyer is the Founder & serves as Managing Partner at Seaplane Ventures. Mr. Magyer was a full-time angel investor before launching Seaplane Ventures in 2022 and previously spent 17 years working across investment banking, equity research, and funds management in the US and Australia. He is also the host of Investing in Startups, a podcast dedicated to the craft of early stage investing. Joe is a 2nd-time investment firm founder having co-founded Lakehouse Capital in Sydney, Australia in 2016. Joe managed more than US$600 million in growth equities at Lakehouse and served as its Chief Investment Officer before stepping back in October 2021 to return to the US and settle in Austin, TX. He has been called a "legend" by Livewire Markets, is a two-time member of The Motley Fool's Hall of Fame, and was twice recognized as a finalist for Money Management's Fund Manager of the Year Awards. A sought after expert and speaker, Joe has made appearances on numerous panels and podcasts over the years as well as the likes of ABC, Bloomberg, CNN, and CNBC.
