Biography

Dr. Ramin Farzaneh-Far serves as Chief Medical Officer at Capstan Therapeutics. Earlier he served as Chief Medical Officer and Executive Chairman at PepGen. He was most recently Vice President of Medical Research at Akebia Therapeutics in Cambridge, MAHe served as Chief Medical Officer at Ra Pharmaceuticals. He also served as Venture Partner at RA Capital Management. . Previously, he served as Director, Clinical Research at Gilead Sciences in Foster City, CA where he led the clinical development of multiple assets in the cardiovascular therapeutic area. Prior to moving to industry, Ramin held academic faculty positions at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed his internal medicine residency at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, and trained in cardiovascular medicine at UCSF. Ramin holds BA and MA degrees in Immunology from the University of Cambridge, a Medical Degree from University College London, and an MAS in Clinical Research from UCSF. He served as Acting Chief Medical Officer at Lusaris Therapeutics. He was Chief Medical Officer of Ra Pharmaceuticals from 2016 until it was acquired by UCB in 2020. Ramin is an experienced clinical trialist and previously led global clinical development programs at Akebia Therapeutics and Gilead Sciences. A trained cardiologist, he has held academic faculty positions at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
