Biography

Dr. Aman Iqbal Founded and served as Managing Partner at IQGEN Holdings. Dr. Iqbal Co-Founded Proteorex Therapeutics and also served as its Chief Executive Officer. He brings with him diverse work and leadership experience, having worked in academic labs, pharma/biotech companies as well as a not-for-profit research institute. He has published multiple first author papers in leading international peer-reviewed journals. He has been a consultant to two startup biotech companies and has also done business development work for a chemistry CRO. At the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC), he set up and led a research team, comprising of academics and industry partners, to coordinate efforts to find chemical probes against an emerging and challenging family of proteins using a fragment-based drug discovery platform. Prior to SGC, he was a research scientist at Astex Pharmaceuticals, a leader in the area of fragment-based drug discovery, where he was involved in multiple projects in oncology. He has a PhD in chemistry from the University of Oxford and has completed certified courses in building a business and entrepreneurship from Oxford's Said Business School and from MaRS. He has been selected in the 2014 cohort of 'The Next Founders' from across Canada.
