Biography

Dr. Matthias Unser serves as Co-Head of Private Debt, a Member of the Investment Committee & Executive Board, and a Founding and Equity Partner at YIELCO Investments. Between 2001 and 2011, he held senior positions at leading German private equity fund of funds providers (DB Private Equity, Sal. Oppenheim Private Equity Partners, VCM Capital Management). He was jointly responsible for the structuring and portfolio management of 9 private debt funds of funds and 7 managed accounts/advisory mandates. In particular, he was responsible for private debt (direct lending, mezzanine, distressed debt, credit opportunities). Between 1998 and 2001 he worked as a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in corporate finance advisory. In these organizations, he participated in more than 240 investments (primaries, secondaries, and co-investments) with capital commitments of over EUR 8.8bn as a due diligence responsible or member of the investment committee. He invested in private debt across the entire strategy spectrum, but also in private equity and infrastructure equity strategies. He holds a degree in banking and business administration, a PhD in finance, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
