Biography

Mr. Michael Kennedy is the Founder and Owner and serves as President at The UP Companies. He serves as Chief Executive Officer at KAIN BUILDING AND DESIGN GROUP, LLC. Mike provides leadership and guidance to the operations of each company with a particular focus on core business strategies, processes, culture, and business development. Earning a degree in Business Administration at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, Mike is an accomplished and influential business leader in the St. Louis community and was recognized by the St. Louis Business Journal as a member of their 30 Under 30 class. Learning much from his father, who founded KAI Design & Build more than 35 years ago, he lends the added background of managing a professional services company along with general construction experience. Community is very important to Mike, and he gives back wholeheartedly. He serves on the boards of AGC St. Louis, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Chairman of the Minority Contractor Initiative (MCI) Advisory Board, St. Louis Children's Hospital and Voices for Children; is a member of the Young President's Organization and volunteers with the Urban Land Institute and St. Louis Development Corporation Business Resource Council Committee.
