Biography

Mr. Rob Johnson serves as Chief Executive Officer & Board Member at Vertiv. He joined Vertiv on Dec. 1, 2016, as chief executive officer. Rob is the former CEO of American Power Conversion (APC) and, most recently, was an operating partner at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB). Rob spent 10 years at APC and as CEO, managed the company's sale to Schneider Electric for $6.1 billion in 2007. After that sale, he worked in executive positions at A123 Systems, a leading battery technology company, and Consolidated Container Corporation before joining KPCB in 2014. In 1989, Johnson founded Systems Enhancement Corporation (SEC), a company that created innovative software and hardware solutions for the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) industry. He sold the company to APC in 1997, at which point became general manager of APC where he focused on power management, thermal management, IT infrastructure, and software and controls. Rob earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1989. He serves on several boards and is the author of "Executing Your Business Transformation," a guide for companies navigating major changes published in 2010.
