Biography

Mr. Donald Gogel serves as Chairman & Member of the Investment Committee at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Cancer Research Institute. He also serves as President of the Gogel Family Foundation. He also served as Chief Executive Officer at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice from 1998 to 2019. He is a member of the Investment Committee and plays an active role in shaping the Firm's strategy, recruiting talent, sourcing new investment opportunities, participating in portfolio company operating reviews, and leading portfolio company CEO roundtables. He led several of the Firm's reference transactions, including the acquisition of Lexmark from IBM Corp., establishing the Firm's reputation as a catalyst for constructive change and a provider of strategic capital. He is Chair of the CD&R Foundation Board. He is also a member of the Business Council and the Trilateral Commission, Senior Vice Chairman of the Mount Sinai Medical System, Vice Chairman of the Cancer Research Institute, a former Trustee of The Rhodes Trust, and Vice Chairman of the Board of The SeriousFun Children's Network. He has over his more than two decades at CD&R, He has led many of the Firm's most successful investments. Before joining the Firm, He served as a Partner at McKinsey & Company and a Managing Director at Kidder, Peabody & Company. He is co-chairman of the Cancer Research Institute, Senior Vice Chairman and Trustee of The Mount Sinai Medical Center, Chairman of the Global Steering Committee of the Rhodes Trust, and a member of the Dean's Council of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. David currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Benchmark Electronics Inc. and on the boards of Flint Group, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Inc., and Georgia Partners in Education. He holds a B.A. from Harvard College, an M. Phil. in Politics from Balliol College, Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
