Biography

Mr. Jay Strauss serves as General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at Shelter Growth Capital Partners. Mr. Strauss serves as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Shelter Growth Capital Partners and its affiliate SG Capital Partners. Prior to joining SGCP, Mr. Strauss served as Senior Vice President of Fortress Investment Group from November 2012 until February 2014 with a focus on legal and transactional work for two mortgage REITs managed by Fortress. Prior to joining Fortress, Mr. Strauss was a Managing Director and Senior Counsel at Deutsche Bank where he worked from November 2002 until October 2012 as legal counsel for their residential mortgage, commercial real estate finance, asset-backed securities and CDO departments. From June 1997 until November 2002 Mr. Strauss was a Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Before joining Goldman Sachs, he was an Assistant Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Nomura Securities International, Inc. and in private practice as an Associate at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan. Mr. Strauss holds a BA in Government from Cornell University and a JD/MBA from Columbia University.
