Biography

Ms. Joann MacMaster serves as Chief Executive Officer at Desert Angels. She served as a Member of the Advisory Board at the University of Arizona, SBSRI. She leads new venture development activities within Tech Launch Arizona. She works closely with TLA licensing managers and UA inventors to connect them with TLA commercialization partners, identify strategic opportunities and direction, and engage appropriate business leadership for startup companies. She then works with startup teams to help them prepare companies for a license. Before her position with TLA, she served as Director of the Arizona Center for Innovation. She has an extensive background as an entrepreneur with three successful exits, including one IPO. Her background includes software translation, simulation, network software/hardware, and healthcare education. She serves as the immediate Past President of the Arizona Business Incubation Association and has an appointment to the Arizona District Export Council. She holds an MBA in International Business/Entrepreneurship from Edinburgh University, Scotland.
