Biography

Mr. Daniel Nova serves as a General Partner at Highland Capital Partners. He serves as Board Member at Rent the Runway. He served as a Board Member at UUSee. He serves as a Board Member at Catalant. He served as a Board Observer at CFT Clear Finance Technology. He served as a Board Observer at YipitData. He serves as Board Observer at Clearco. He also served as a Board Member at Finity. He also serves as Chief Investment Officer at Highland Transcend Partners I. He was a Board Member of Trilogy Education Services and Kyruus. He joined Highland in 1996 as a Partner to establish and build the firm's internet investment practice. He is leading the firm's expansion efforts into China. He continues to be an active investor focusing on technology and consumer investments with specific experience and interest in the Internet, digital marketing, and media technologies. He has led the firm's investments and served on the boards of a number of successful companies including Amp Resources (acquired by Enel), Ask Jeeves (IPO), BeFree (IPO), Coremetrics (acquired by IBM), eToys (IPO), Fastclick (IPO, acquired by ValueClick), Gamesville (acq'd by Lycos), Lycos (IPO), MapQuest (IPO, acquired by AOL), N2 Broadband (acquired by TANDBERG), Navic Networks (acquired by Microsoft), NextCard (IPO), NYTimes Digital (acquired by New York Times), Qihoo 360 (IPO), Quote.com (acquired by Lycos), Raindance (IPO), RoweCom (IPO) and StyleFeeder (acquired by Time, Inc.). His current portfolio includes Aereo, Beyond the Rack, CMI Marketing, HourlyNerd, Rent The Runway, ThredUp, Yipit, and Yoga Works. He has been recognized by the prestigious Forbes Midas List as one of the top venture capitalists in the industry. Prior to joining Highland in 1996, he was a Partner at CMG@Ventures where he co-led the partnership's investment activities in early-stage internet companies. He also serves as a Board Member at RapidSOS. While at CMG@Ventures, he conceived of and formed Lycos, Inc. after securing an exclusive technology license from Carnegie Mellon University. He provided the initial (and only) venture capital investment, recruited the senior management team, and played an integral role from the company's inception through its IPO and eventual sale as a public company. Prior to joining CMG@Ventures, he was a Senior Associate at Summit Partners focused on later-stage technology and cleantech investments. He also worked at Wang Laboratories from 1983 through 1989 in a variety of sales management and sales positions. He earned a B.S., in Computer Science and Marketing from Boston College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
