Biography

Mr. Kunal Mehta serves as Partner, Ventures at Cold Start. Mr. Kunal Mehta served as Principal at Hearst Ventures. Previously, Mehta managed technology investments for the NYU Innovation Venture Fund, a seed-stage fund investing in NYU students, faculty and researchers. In this role, he led or supported investments in companies such as KitSplit, Brooklinen, ClarifAI and Kinvolved, and worked with NYU founders at all stages of the venture-building process. Mehta began his career at J.P. Morgan through the Smart Start scholarship program and at Nomura Securities as an equities trader. He transitioned away from Wall Street to work at the intersection of social impact and technology at the non-profit charity: water, where he helped support grant investments in NGOs bringing clean water technologies to developing countries. Prior to working in venture capital, Mehta partnered with two co-founders to launch Unfold, a long-form content mobile startup. He is the author of Disruptors, a book profiling the early trials and tribulations of the founders behind now game-changing ventures such as Betterment, LearnVest, Pinterest and Foursquare. Mehta is currently writing his second book, called Finding Genius, on the topic of venture capitalists.
