John Ormiston General Information
Biography
Mr. John Ormiston served as Partner, Tax at Smythe. He has close to 30 years of experience in both public and private practice across a variety of industries, including real estate, food processing, forestry, shipping, yacht building, manufacturing, legal, professional corporations, and technology. His focus has been on owner-managed enterprises, specifically, corporate reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions. Prior to joining Smythe LLP in February 2017, John worked at a national firm as a tax partner for many years. John graduated from the University of British Columbia with an undergraduate degree and later attained his MSc in Marine Law from the University of Wales. He is a member of the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners, a former Trustee and Secretary for the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, and Director of the Seymour Golf and Country Club. John is also a licensed Ship Master.
