Biography

Mr. Bobby Aitkenhead is a Co-Founder and serves as Managing Partner and Managing Director at IDC Ventures. As a tech entrepreneur, he brings 20+ years of business experience to IDCV with an additional background in trading and investment banking including roles at Citibank, Fortis Bank, and KPMG. Over the last 15 years, Bobby has both been a tech investor and had significant operational roles in multiple progressive fintech innovations. First, Bobby co-founded BlueKite and led the cross-border payments platform as CEO. BlueKite was acquired by Xoom; Bobby and the team joined Xoom en route to IPO in 2013, during which time Bobby led product as a VP in the executive team. In late 2015, the recently independent PayPal acquired Xoom to form the largest fintech of the time. Bobby held senior management roles at PayPal post-acquisition and through integration until early in 2019. In addition to his operating background, Bobby also co-founded other ventures that are starting to scale: Osigu, a revolutionary healthcare platform in LATAM; Lucas (now RIVE, Spain), with the vision of making homeownership simple, accessible and flexible in Europe; and BrandHouse, a London-based pioneer of cross-border trade for fast-moving consumer goods. As an active technology investor and BOD member for 10 years, Bobby co-founded ATW Partners in 2015, a New York-based investment firm that manages a hybrid private equity and venture capital fund. He's held over 15 BOD positions and participated in more than 100 Venture Capital transactions. Bobby has dual Finance and Economics degrees from Southern Methodist University, where he also played on the Division I Basketball Team. His favorite part of IDCV is the quality of people he gets to work with: from the dynamic and extraordinary team at IDC and IDCV, to all the amazing investors in the platform, and, of course, the exceptional founders (and teams) we partner with. Outside of work, Bobby spends time with family and his 5(!) kids, and he enjoys all things related to sports, food, and travel.
